Born on July 10, 1856 and died on January 7, 1943, Nikola Tesla is one of the most significant scientists and inventors the world has ever seen. He was born in the Lika village of Smiljan, where his family home is still standing, and he passed away in New York.
While it is a generally known fact that Tesla invented alternating current, the radio and the electric engine, he set the foundations for much advancement in electric engineering. Many of his inventions were usurped by American Thomas Alva Edison. Professionally, we have the idea of robotics, remote control, radar systems, informatics, ballistics and nuclear physics. And privately? We have love for a lovely dove.

Wireless power transmission
One of Tesla`s most significant ideas which has never been fully elaborated is the wireless transmission of power to long distances. The initial idea boiled down to transmitting from an electric source to household antennas or electricity driven cars, but in 1904, Tesla went a step forward, pointing out that the earth`s or the water`s feature of conducting electricity (even in the upper layers of the atmosphere) could be used for a global wireless energy system.
According to the idea, this would make energy transmission highly cheap, free even. This is the part where conspiracy theory enthusiasts come in, claiming that the project was sabotaged in order to preserve the population`s dependency on expensive electricity.
Death ray – end of all wars
His second project with a dramatic name is the “Death ray”. Tesla claimed that he succeeded in realising vast destructive potential of a macroscopic charged particle beam which could, as he said in 1915, “destroy life or property when it becomes inevitable”. At the same time, the ray could be used for defence purposes. Tesla explained to his potential investors that the ray could be as an invisible Great Wall of China, only a thousand times stronger. It could surround any country, thus making war impossible.
Again, it is speculated that the American Army was aware of this research and continued developing it in secrecy.
The Rainbow project
There was another very top-secret experiment from 1943 in which Tesla supposedly took part – the Philadelphia experiment, or the rainbow project. Apart from Tesla, the project also featured Einstein and supposedly, they succeeded in making the USS Elridge cannon-class destroyer escort of the US Navy invisible. At the same time, it is assumed that at one point, the scientists in Philadelphia teleported the entire shop to Norfolk, 200,000 miles away from the initial location.

Nikola Tesla fed and cared for several pigeons, among a beautiful white dove with brown-grey tips on her wings was singled out. According to John O`Neil, the author of Tesla`s biography, the inventor loved this dove like he has not loved anyone else. The author claims that Tesla explained to him the connection.
– Yes, I loved that pigeon, I loved her as a man loves a woman, and she loved me. If the pigeon became ill, he would nurse her back to health and as long as she needed him and he could have her, nothing else mattered and there was purpose in his life.
